1 Fauteuil dossier basculant, UAM

1 Fauteuil dossier basculant, UAM

DESIGNED BY Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand
FOR Cassina

A design armchair inspired by colonial furniture, featuring a chrome-plated steel structure and a self-supporting leather-trimmed fabric that forms the seat, backrest and armrests, which widen slightly at the front and taper at the back.

The Cassina edition reproduces the original, introduced in 1930 at the UAM ‒ Union des Artistes Modernes ‒ exhibition during which the authors demonstrated how the furniture displayed could be produced with a wider variety of upholstery. At the time, the outstanding saddlery detail inspired more than one high-fashion collection.

The Fauteuil dossier basculant - UAM armchair further demonstrates the design philosophy of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand for whom furniture is the result of a growth process that leads the objects to respond more precisely and immediately to the homes in which they are placed.
