Projects
24.01.2022First founded in 1966, Adam Heath has always been a mainstay in Perth’s retail and fashion industry. Owner Judy Burbury has been at the helm since 1984, and together with her daughter, Angela, continues to deliver a curation of leading Australian and international fashion to her clientele. A mecca for the sartorially-minded, it is known for its exquisite collection of designer clothing, jewellery and accessories. The renowned boutique is today home to leading brands including Dries Van Noten, Isabel Marant, Marni, Oroton and Ulla Johnson.
In mid-2021, Adam Heath revealed a newly-refurbished space on Bayview Terrace which captures the essence of the landmark retailer and the stable of brands it represents. Architectural details such as pressed tin ceilings and dramatic arches are complemented by a rich, earthy colour palette - a bold yet elegant setting to showcase Adam Heath’s exquisite collection.
Also with an affinity for international designs, Mobilia worked with Adam Heath to curate key furniture and decorative pieces to complete the space. An artwork in itself, the hand-made Doodles Seated Nude rug by British artist Faye Toogood for cc-tapis is used as a wall hanging to create a focal point and layer of texture within the space. The Doodles collection responds to Toogood’s preoccupation through her work to ‘tinker’ and explore new styles with an overarching aesthetic that is painterly, abstract and freethinking. The designs are based on a series of artworks that Toogood created and painted by hand. “Our intention was not to create photocopies of the original artworks, but rather we wanted to try capture the materiality and richness of each piece, we wanted to translate Faye’s expression created through the delicate use of colour and shading…” explains cc-tapis’ art-director Daniele Lora.
A collection of pieces from iconic Italian design brand Moroso also feature, including the sculptural Gogan sofa and armchair by Patricia Urquiola along with the Net coffee and side tables by Benjamin Hubert. The Gogan collection takes its name from Japanese stones that are rendered smooth over time, shaped by the wind and water. Meanwhile, the collection of Net tables are a creative gesture, designed around the concept of a ‘crack’. Depending on the observers perspective, it can either block the gaze or let it through, seem light or solid, blend into its surroundings or stand out.
The pièce de résistance is the Shiva Linear pendant by Milanese multidisciplinary duo Morghen Studio. Always different in shape and rhythm, this hand-made pendant dances and twists with its free flowing form.
Filled with moments of delight, Adam Heath Boutique’s Claremont location is a space where art, fashion and design collide. It is an essential destination for anyone looking for a unique luxury retail experience.
