20.01.2022Rising majestically above Sydney’s bustling Barangaroo Precinct, Crown Towers is a premier destination offering accommodation, private residential apartments, fine dining experiences and luxury amenities. The project was completed in December 2020 and stands at an impressive 271.3 metres in height (or 75 floors), making it the tallest building in Sydney.
Following a design competition, London-based architecture practice WilkinsonEyre was appointed as the design and principal architect. The design and form of the tower takes inspiration from natural forms and curved geometry, and according to WilkinsonEyre “is derived from a sculptural form that is reminiscent of three twisting petals and takes inspiration from nature, being composed of organic forms without literal or direct reference.” The twisting shape also affords spectacular views to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Among the opulent amenities is the pool deck on level 5 where guests can enjoy an expansive infinity pool with panoramic views over the Harbour. Completing the deck area is Kettal’s Landscape Via Deckchair in a neutral hue. With an elegant simplicity, the Landscape collection is designed to meld with its environment and create structure within a space. Crafted using aluminium and a Porotex fabric, the deckchairs are sculptural yet highly durable and equipped to face the elements.
Late in 2021, luxury fashion house Burberry collaborated with Crown Sydney to reimagine the pool deck for the launch of their new TB Summer Monogram collection. An ode to Burberry’s founder, Thomas Burberry, the collection was designed to “capture the optimism of the new season and the spirit of summer.” Crown Sydney was chosen for the takeover alongside a number of other destinations internationally including The Good Time Hotel in Miami, Casa Jondal Beach Club in Ibiza, Pina Wake Surf Club in Thailand and Twiggy Beach Club in Dubai.
The pool deck was awash with blue for the striking takeover, which featured monogrammed umbrellas and plush cushions for celebrities and hotel guests to enjoy while taking in the spectacular views poolside. Kettal’s deckchairs perfectly complemented Burberry’s bold lifestyle pieces to create an atmosphere reminiscent of summers spent in the Mediterranean.
