Mangiafouco Side Table
DESIGNED BY Zanellato/Bortotto
FOR Moroso
Mangiafuoco, or Fire-eater, is a collection designed for Moroso where an ordinary copper object coated with vitreous powders takes on an unexpected splendour and startling colours when fired at high temperatures, leaving the metal intact.
In the two round coffee tables, the broad enamelled surface is traversed by a variety of unpredictable shades resulting from the combining and overlapping of vitreous powders and strict observance of the necessary kiln time.
The same technique is used to produce a set of generously-sized centerpiece trays with concentric nuances in which the copper, already a noble material, takes on an even more precious, unique aspect.
The result is a series of unique pieces - imperfect and therefore seductively exciting and attractive.
